01How can I prevent KHV from entering my pond?
Always quarantine new koi first, use separate equipment and disinfect nets and tools. Monitor temperature and symptoms during quarantine and consult a fish veterinarian if in doubt.
02Can disinfectant be used in the pond?
Use Virkon™S at its normal concentration for equipment and surface disinfection. A much lower dose of 2 g per 1,000 litres applies to pond-water conditioning. This purifies the water and reduces viral pressure but does not fully disinfect it. Always follow the dosing table.
03Why is equipment hygiene so important for koi?
Nets, buckets and tools can carry pathogens between ponds and fish. Separate or disinfected equipment interrupts this route and reduces outbreak risk.
